I'm trying very hard to finish a poncho--or will it end up a throw??-- I started probably 5 years ago or so. I love the colors & the yarn, but this part of the pattern is really challenging. I'm determined to finish it so as to actually wear it this winter + I really want to be able to justify in my mind buying more yarn to start a sweater at a spinning/knitting retreat I'm going to later in January. Not reading at all as I concentrate on each row--each one is different--so Christmas music & a background football game yesterday were perfect. Otherwise, phone calls with kids, cooking a turkey with trimmings, lovely time with my partner--nice, restful time between holidays. I hope you're enjoying the work, as well as time with fewer interruptions.

You will feel so proud of yourself when that poncho/throw is finished! Pushing through the challenging parts always results in such a feeling of satisfaction. You've got this!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were lovely. Centered around quiet time with family and friends. Lots of stories…Food was simple.😊 All were different ways from celebrating in the past. That’s OK☺️

I am in the middle of The Women - excellent- and ready to start knitting an emotional support chicken 😆 Listened to Small Things Like These. A good Christmas listen.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

The Women is on my list, but I haven't got to it yet. Too many books, not enough hours in the day!

Thank you for recommending Pilcher's Winter Solstice. I'm about halfway through and I'm enjoying it immensely.

This year celebrations centered around Solstice and on Christmas Day we had the most quiet, restful, read-filled day. I contemplated a new project which I will continue this week. It will be a week of finishing - two scarves, a shawl and something in between. The new project- a play quilt for a great granddaughter will join me on a train to visit my daughter- a lovely way to end the year and call in the new.

Thank you for all!

Hi Sandi, Hope all is going well with your translation. That sounds like quite a project. Keep us posted on how it is going. Love your amaryllis! It is so beautiful and looks lovely alongside your prayer plant. Very cheery. The video on the history of yarn - done in wool animation is a hoot! So are you ready to get an electric spinning wheel? I have never learned to spin yarn. But, I admire those who do it and what they create. Keep us posted on the books you like. I am just finishing the eBook version of 'The Antique Hunter's Guide to Murder' by C. L. Miller. Little bit of a slow start but comes to life and becomes a page turner. Looking forward to your posts in 2025!

Hello Sandy - I already own an electric spinning wheel! I have an Electric Eel Wheel Nano (https://www.dreamingrobots.com/product/eew-nano/?srsltid=AfmBOoqRgiH_J1KiTaCg-OfViN3bqeGEm1PC2LAoYFA5aYys63GmD8qw). It works just fine, but I don't really use it often. I prefer the whole-body rhythm of spinning with my Ashford Traditional wheel.

Best to you in the new year.
