Good morning, Sandi. Yes, I do both Libby and Hoopla. THank you for the reminder to check Libby. :-) I just finished Fever in the Heartland by Tim Egan. Wow! What a frightening time in our history... Thus, I am happy to have something a bit lighter :-)
Thanks for the warning. I did read the synopsis, and I'm not expecting a feel-good read. But I firmly believe that averting our eyes from our past (or our present for that matter) is a mistake. Only by understanding our mistakes can we arm ourselves to do better in the future.
Hey, thank you for the shout-out! I'm a bit nervous about knitting day ... sigh. April 5 is also a major rally/protest day. My husband and a couple of friends want to participate in a rally at our capitol. I said I could probably knit while standing (but not while holding a sign so that's on them). To honor my commitment to the Knit-a-Thon, I'll need to start knitting way early in the day. It should be fine, it's just the usual trying to do too much at once.
Thanks for the book recommendations. We started watching The Mirror and the Light. Kind of creepy how much Henry VIII's behavior and the court politics reminds me of our current state of affairs. Ugh. But the acting is so good and, yes, the set design and costumes.
That's a lovely spring cardigan. Congrats on its publication!
I've started three knitting projects: a hat, a pair of socks, and a shawl. The socks could easily take me all day since they will be worked on #1 needles. But I don't want to carry them around and risk getting distracted and dropping stitches. So I also started a shawl, but the pattern is mosaic and I need to be able to pay close attention to the instructions. Then, today, I remembered the watch cap pattern that you gave away. I took some stash and started it. It will be perfect for carrying around at a rally. #6 needles and a light olive green yarn. I think I'm all set ;-)
Good morning, Sandi. The Waiting Game looks very good. I did read Wolf Hall several years ago. Did you read or listen to the Waiting Game? I am waiting for Orbital to come into audio on Hoopla.
Your Thursday morning writings are always something to look forward to. Thank you.
If you haven't found it already I can recommend Bess Of Hardwick by Mary Lovell. Fascinating woman, contemporary of Elizabeth I and wrapped up in all the politics of the time, and since her descendants are still alive, since.
The Mirror and the Light picks up right where the first one left off. I did rewatch the first one about a month before season 2 began, and I'm glad I did. I'd recommend you rewatch at least the final episode of Wolf Hall before beginning the Mirror and the Light so you won't have much catching up to do.
I loved the Waiting Game! A demonstration of the work of excellent research and writing. I have not yet watched The Mirror and the Light, trying to decide if I want to rewatch the first one.

I hope you looked at the content. It is non-fiction and very very well-written. THe topic is quite difficult to read (or was for me).

Perfect!
I've just put a hold on A Fever in the Heartland. Thanks for the tip!

I have confidence in you! I know you'll both make your knitting goal and accompany your husband to the rally.
And yes, the parallels between the current US administration and the despotic Tudor king are chilling.

Perfect! You can do K2, P2 ribbing on size 6 needles in your sleep!

Hope spring is in the air.
Good morning, Ginger! I read The Waiting Game in paper, borrowed from the public library.
Do you have access to Libby through your library? That is where I borrowed the audiobook of Orbital.
Thanks for being a loyal supporter 🩷

Thank you for the recommendation! I've ordered Lovell's book.
