Excellent edition of your weekly column. The sweater is beautiful!!! Combined with Seth’s blog on learning a new skill makes a full message🙂.

Seth’s questions were excellent and right on for me as I learn to crochet.

I always look forward to your weekly message. Thank you. I have several books in mind to start, but in between right now. I have never read Ann Cleeves, but louise penny gives her latest book high praise. Not sure if I am ready for another series😊

Congratulations on undertaking learning to crochet! I actually learned to crochet when I was quite young, which is probably why continental knitting was my natural inclination.

I haven't read much Ann Cleeves, but I loved the TV series Shetland (available on BritBox) which was based on her Jimmy Perez novels. I'm amazed at her ability to keep more than one series going at a time. It must be like stepping in an out of different worlds!

Congrats on all the publications! And thanks for the all the links. I was so sad to hear that Robert Redford had died. I've seen so many of his films, but, surprisingly, I haven't seen Out of Africa. You're the second person I know to say that Out of Africa is your favorite Redford film so I guess I better put it in my queue :-)

I want to say that I might have listened to a Mick Herron novel. His name is familiar, and it pops up often when I'm searching for new novels on Libby. We had a subscription to AppleTV briefly (one of those free trial things) and watched one episode of Slow Horses. I know people who love the series, and I do love Gary Oldman, but that episode was so visually dark and the characters so cynical that we didn't bother to continue the series. I might have given it another try ... sometimes it takes a while for a series to grow on you ... but my husband wasn't interested and then we didn't renew the AppleTV so ... that was that ;-)

Right now I'm listening to the third in the Marlowe Murder Club series by Robert Thorogood, Queen of Poisons. This weekend I discovered the third and fourth books in the series so I have them both on loan from the library. You know the series has been made into a TV series on PBS? I watched one episode but was disappointed that the TV actors didn't quite mesh with how I imagined the characters. Speaking of which, have you seen the movie The Thursday Murder Club? I think we've talked about that fiction series by Richard Osman. The movie has a wonderful cast including Helen Mirren, Pierce Bronson, Ben Kingsley. My only quibble that is the movie tries to squish too much into two hours. Osman should have bargained for a TV series, in my humble opinion.

You're the first person who has told me they didn't enjoy Slow Horses. I wonder if it would have hit you differently if you had read the books.

I enjoyed the Marlow Murder Club series on PBS, though it wasn't my favorite. There is something about how eager the three women are that rings false. But I haven't read the books, so don't have the point of comparison.

I just watched The Thursday Murder Club last night, and I loved it! What an amazing cast. I was particularly delighted to see Pierce Brosnan playing a character so different from his usual suave urbanity.

Pierce Brosnan was so very good. I remember a TV series he was in during the early 80s, Remington Steele. I had such a crush on him :-)

I've read all the Slow Horse books and I'm halfway through the latest, Clown Town. I find the books intriguing and also very amusing. I've also watched the entire series and the latest one will air in a few days. Thoroughly enjoyable books.

Really nice sweater by the way.
