Hi Sandi from northern Vermont! New subscriber and thank you for the lovely pattern. I just finished "The Bee Sting" by Paul Murray. And wow! Amazing! It's a long book but I couldn't put it down. I bought North Woods for my wife for Valentines Day. We have an historic preservation business so a novel about an historic house is right up our alley.

And you’re very welcome on the pattern. I hope you enjoy it.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. She writes a good historical fiction. This one takes place in MA in 1779 & involves a midwife. I read it in 2 days - now to wait for her next one. Code Name Helene was my all-time favorite of hers. If you like WWII French Resistance stories, this one's for you. I couldn't come close to what Nancy Wake (the protagonist) did. I've read her biography & Lawhon didn't make that stuff up. I'm like you - always looking for a good read. I'll be checking out North Woods.

Thank you! I've added The Frozen River to my queue. On the theme of WWII French Resistance, have you read Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See? The Netflix adaptation was not bad, but the book was so much more. I also loved The Paris Library by janet Skeslien Charles, about the librarians at the American Library in Paris during WWII.
